Hello and Welcome! My name is Tracey Slade Nixon, and I am proud to serve as principal at Northside High School in Pinetown, NC. I was born and raised in Beaufort County, and I graduated Northside High School in 1993. Bath is my hometown, and I am proud to live in a small community that supports its students and educators.

I earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education (Social Studies and Language Arts) from North Carolina State University, and received a Masters of Adult Leadership and Supervision from East Carolina University. In addition, I currently hold a post-secondary Educational Specialist degree from East Carolina University. Education should be ongoing and we are never too old to learn.

I began teaching in 1999 at Zebulon GT Magnet Middle. In 2000, I moved back to Beaufort County, and worked at PS Jones Middle School for many years. I began my teaching career as a 6^th grade Language Arts teacher, and I moved from a teaching role to administration in 2007. After working in middle school for 21 years, I moved to NHS to challenge myself and work with the older students within my area. This is my fifth year at NHS, and I am looking forward to another exciting and rewarding school year for 2024 – 2025.
